Demonstration of velocity selective myocardial arterial spin labeling perfusion CMR

چکیده
Background Arterial spin labeling of the heart has been shown to estimate myocardial perfusion and perfusion reserve at a single short-axis slice for coronary artery disease assessment. However, current spatial labeling methods suffer from transit delay effects when imaging is extended to more than a single slice. Velocity selective (VS) labeling is a promising alternative that does not suffer from transit delay effects.

Arterial spin labeling CMR perfusion imaging is capable of continuously monitoring myocardial blood flow during stress
Background Myocardial arterial spin labeling (ASL) is a non-invasive non-contrast CMR perfusion imaging technique [Zun et al., ‘09] that is compatible with adenosine stress testing [Zun et al., ‘11]. Here, we demonstrate its ability to continuously monitor MBF during stress, which has a variety of potential applications including interventional CMR and the study of endothelial function. We used...
متن کاملNon-contrast myocardial perfusion assessment in porcine acute myocardial infarction using arterial spin labeled CMR
Background Following acute myocardial infarction (AMI), microvascular integrity and function may be compromised as a result of microvascular obstruction (MVO) and vasodilator dysfunction [1,2]. It has been observed that both infarct and remote myocardial territories may exhibit impaired myocardial blood flow (MBF) patterns associated with abnormal vasodilator response [3]. Arterial spin labeled...
متن کاملMyocardial ASL-CMR perfusion imaging with improved sensitivity using GRAPPA
Background Myocardial arterial spin labeling (ASL) is a non-contrast CMR technique for measuring myocardial blood flow (MBF), but has relatively low signal-to-physiological noise (PN). Therefore perfusion measurements are made over several averaged pixels within left ventricular (LV) segments and not individual pixels. Shorter image acquisition times using SENSE parallel imaging has been shown ...

c i d B t Arterial spin labeling (ASL) magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is a noncontrast technique that can quantify tissue blood flow. It is most commonly applied to the brain (1) and kidney (2); however, it also has potential application to other organs, including the heart (3). Used for the heart, ASL might eventually play a role in cardiac pharmacological stress testing, where it could be u...
متن کاملEvaluation of systematic quantification errors in velocity-selective arterial spin labeling of the brain.
Velocity-selective (VS) sequences potentially permit arterial spin labeling (ASL) perfusion imaging with labeling applied very close to the tissue. In this study the effects of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) motion, radiofrequency (RF) field imperfections, and sequence timing parameters on the appearance and quantitative perfusion values obtained with VS-ASL were evaluated. Large artifacts related t...
